Our Short Vowels O & U: Word Sort Journals are a great phonics activity to help your students remember some of the most common short vowels. Each Word Family Journal includes:

The word family to be studied;
Primary writing lines for words;
Space for drawing pictures.
On the back of each journal are extra lines for words;
There is a letter sheet that you can print on card stock;
The students can use the letters as manipulatives for making words;

Your students can have their journals handy while writing in the classroom or at home. I have included a cover sheet and a journal page sheet that you can modify for other short vowel word families.
